Running Assessments:

Our physiotherapy running assessment is ideal if you are, dealing with a running injury, struggling to increase your speed or distance, looking to enhance your running routine, wanting to prevent potential injuries.

During the assessment, we’ll analyze your running technique, including your posture, gait, foot strike, and overall biomechanics. We also assess your strength, flexibility, and balance to identify any imbalances or weaknesses. Based on our findings, we provide personalized recommendations to improve your form, prevent injuries, and boost your performance, whether you're a beginner or an experienced runner.

Please come prepared to this session in your running attire and footwear.

Our physiotherapist Natasha Prokop and Lauren Siddall provide running assessment and can be booked here or by calling 250-723-5112.

Vestibular Rehabilitation:

Vestibular physiotherapy is a specialized treatment aimed at addressing dizziness, balance issues, and vertigo caused by problems within the inner ear and vestibular system. Our comprehensive assessment includes a series of tests to evaluate the visual and vestibular systems, as well as sensation. We gather detailed information about pain, muscle strength, range of motion in the extremities and spine, coordination, balance, posture, and walking ability.

Based on these findings, we create a customized exercise program designed to reduce symptoms, improve balance, and enhance overall mobility. This therapy is ideal for individuals experiencing dizziness, unsteadiness, or motion sensitivity, helping them regain control and confidence in their movements.

Our physiotherapist Natasha Prokop provides vestibular rehabilitation sessions and can be booked here or by calling 250-723-5112.

Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy

Pelvic floor physiotherapy is a specialized treatment designed to assess and treat issues related to the muscles, ligaments, and connective tissues of the pelvic floor. It’s ideal for people of all ages suffering from incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, or lumbar and pelvic pain, including pre and post-natal women.

Our assessments take place in a private, comfortable treatment room to ensure your privacy and ease. Internal exams can be performed but are not necessary; we tailor each session to your comfort level. Through targeted exercises, manual therapy, and education, we help restore pelvic function and relieve pain.

During our sessions, we provide a comprehensive evaluation of the TMJ and surrounding structures to identify the root cause of your discomfort. Our goal is to reduce pain, restore function, and help you regain comfort in daily activities.

Ergonomic Assessments

An ergonomic assessment is a process that involves evaluating the design and arrangement of a person's workspace and equipment to ensure it is optimized for comfort, efficiency, and safety. The goal of an ergonomic assessment is to minimize the risk of musculoskeletal injuries, enhance productivity, and improve overall well-being.

At Port Alberni Physiotherapy & Wellness, one of our trained physiotherapists will address your ergonomic needs, whether in a group setting at work or for your own personal use. An on site consultation will highlight areas of inadequacy in equipment, posture, technique and design and suggest ways to improve and prevent injury.

Who should get an Ergonomic Assessment?

Ergonomic assessments are particularly important in office environments where employees spend extended periods looking at a computer or sitting at a desk. However, they can also be applicable in various settings, including manufacturing, healthcare, and other work environments where physical tasks are performed.

To book an appointment, please contact our front desk reception at 250-723-5112 so we can identify your needs and discuss whether a home or workplace visit would be right for you.
